FACTS FRIDAY ABOUT YOUR BLOOD AND WHATS IN IT By Vien007 on Health Tips

Your blood feeds every cell, tissue, gland, organ, and organ system in your body. Without strong, oxygen-rich blood these systems can become compromised. Here are 3 ways to build stronger, richer, healthier blood.

THIS IS CITY HEALTH TIPS WITH VIEN.

So, the Doctor on doctor’s orders will be sharing some facts this Friday about your blood and what’s in it, but before I share with you my ultimate top 3ways to build a stronger, richer and healthier blood, I took time out to ask a few people what they thought blood is made up of. Some said, plasma, some said white and red blood cells, some said blood is made up of blood and water, but at the end of the day, your doctor knows best.

Moving on ,now to share 3 ways to build a stronger, richer and healthier blood according to www.care 2.com

Get moving. The best way to build oxygen-rich blood is to exercise. Not only does exercise help your heart pump blood, it brings fresh oxygen.
Breathe deeply. Breathing deeply brings more oxygen to your lungs which then moves directly across into your blood.

Eat more legumes. Rich in fiber and nutrients, beans and legumes help eliminate harmful cholesterol.

Get adequate iron. Iron forms the center of the hemoglobin molecule making it essential for strong blood.  Many pre-menopausal women are deficient in iron and may need supplementation. Because excess iron can be dangerous, get your levels tested prior to supplementation. Some foods that are good sources of iron include:  lentils, kidney beans, prunes, green vegetables and beef. Avoid excess consumption of the latter two since they can be inflammatory.

And that’s all on City Health Tips With Me Vien.
Remember, to build better blood, get moving, breathe deeply, eat more legumes and get adequate Ion.

The 2015 World Sickle Cell DAY is 19th June and The theme of this year’s celebration is “Control of Sickle Cell Disease in Nigeria at Primary Care Level’ with sub theme “Collaboration for the Control of Sickle Cell Disease in West Africa”.

1.Sickle cell disease is an inherited disorder that causes the red blood cells to be abnormally shaped and get stuck inside the blood vessels, making it hard to deliver oxygen throughout the body. Today on City Health tips with me Vien Here is one things leading physicians in the field say you should know about the disease.

2. People are born with sickle cell disease; it does not develop in adulthood, and it is not contagious. Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder that is passed down from parent to child. APPENDICITIS By Vien007 On Health Tips

APPENDICITIS
Appendicitis is an inflammation of the appendix, a 3 1/2-inch-long tube of tissue that extends from the large intestine. No one is absolutely certain what the function of the appendix is. One thing we do know: We can live without it, without apparent consequences.
Appendicitis is a medical emergency that requires prompt surgery to remove the appendix. Left untreated, an inflamed appendix will eventually burst, or perforate, spilling infectious materials into the abdominal cavity. This can lead to peritonitis, a serious inflammation of the abdominal cavity's lining (the peritoneum) that can be fatal unless it is treated quickly with strong antibiotics. What Causes Appendicitis?
Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes blocked, often by stool, a foreign body, or cancer. Blockage may also occur from infection, since the appendix swells in response to any infection in the body.
What Are the Symptoms of Appendicitis?
The classic symptoms of appendicitis include:
  • Dull pain near the navel or the upper abdomen that becomes sharp as it moves to the lower right abdomen. This is usually the first sign.
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and/or vomiting soon after abdominal pain begins
  • Abdominal swelling
  • Inability to pass gas
Almost half the time, other symptoms of appendicitis appear, including:
If you have any of the mentioned symptoms, seek medical attention immediately, because timely diagnosis and treatment is very important. Do not eat, drink, or use any pain remedies, antacids, laxatives, or heating pads, which can cause an inflamed appendix to rupture.

World Blood Donor Day 2015 By Vien007 On Health Tips

Why Donate Blood?

“Thank you for saving my life.”, yes you, I’m talking to you, you out there listening right now that has ever been a blood donor, once again I say “Thank you for saving my life.” Well Sunday the 14th of June was World Blood Donation Day.

The theme of this year’s World Blood Donation Day campaign is "Thank you for saving my life". It focuses on thanking blood donors who save lives every day through their blood donations and strongly encourages more people all over the world to donate blood voluntarily and regularly with the slogan “Give freely, give often. Blood donation matters.” The campaign aims to highlight stories from people whose lives have been saved through blood donation, as a way of motivating regular blood donors to continue giving blood and people in good health who have never given blood to begin doing so this year’s theme focuses on the power donors have to help those they may not know.

But as we commemorate the World Blood Donation Day here on City Health Tips with me Vien, put this at the back of your mind.

Many recipients are actually too young to thank those who have donated blood. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 65 percent of blood transfusions in low-income countries are given to children younger than 5 years old.
Another group that needs safe donated blood is new mothers. Globally, about 800 women die every day from complications of pregnancy or giving birth. Donated blood can help save their lives.
Edward Kelley, M.D., Ph.D., director of service delivery and safety at WHO, said in a statement.

“Safe blood transfusion is one of the key life-saving interventions that should be available for patients in need,” “Yet, equitable access to safe blood still remains a major challenge in many countries.” On that note, my tip for today is simple.
Become a donor by having a healthy lifestyle which includes you eating healthy, exercising and if you must have sex, use protection though abstinence would be a better guarantee, and above all, get a regular check up from time to time to make sure you are physically fit, and medically fit.
  • That’s all today on city health tips with me vien, remember You don't need a special reason to give blood; you just need your own reason. Some of us give blood because we were asked by a friend. Some know that a family member or a friend might need blood some day. Some believe it is the right thing we do.
  • Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply. And you'll feel good knowing you've helped change a life
  •

MAKE SURE YOU TUNE IN TOMORROW AS I WILL BE SHARING SOME STRANGE MYTH ABOUT BLOOD DONATION THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SENDING TO ME VIA TWITTER SINCE FRIDAY, IF YOU HAVENT SENT YOURS IN, DO SO NOW AT VIEN007 AND AT CITY 1051. DOCTORS ORDERS IS UP NEXT.
